PriBrain vs gbrain & gstack

Your company brain.
Hosted for you.

Shared context for your team’s agents, with the hosting and backups handled. Compare PriBrain with running open-source gbrain yourself.

Two ways to give
agents a memory.

gbrain provides persistent memory for AI agents. gstack provides software development workflows and can use gbrain to carry context between sessions. This comparison covers self-hosted gbrain, with or without gstack.

gbrain also offers a hosted service at gbrain.io. That is a separate option; the operating responsibilities below apply to self-hosting.

Getting started

Connect company tools, define access, and connect your MCP-compatible agents.

Automated setup is available through gstack. For a shared deployment, configure the database, remote access, and client credentials.

Ongoing upkeep

PriBrain operates the hosted service. Daily brain backups are included and retained for seven days.

Your team operates the service, applies upgrades, and arranges database backups. Setup and diagnostic tools help with that work.

Access controls

Restrict access to context and connected tools by user, role, and team.

Supports scoped access for remote clients. You configure source permissions, read/write grants, and client credentials for your team.

Agent connections

MCP-compatible agents and apps retrieve and store shared company context.

MCP supports local and remote clients. gstack is optional; gbrain can serve other compatible agents too.

Hosting

EU-based and EU-hosted, with encrypted memory.

You choose where the instance runs and which optional model providers it uses.

Source code

Proprietary software, provided as a hosted service. PriBrain is not open source.

MIT-licensed source code you can inspect, modify, and run yourself.

Cost

€500 per month for up to 50 users, excluding VAT. Your PriBrain bill scales with users, not AI or brain usage. Larger teams on request.

No software licence fee. Infrastructure and optional paid model costs can rise with usage. Your team also covers setup and ongoing maintenance.

Choose self-hosting
for code and control.

You want to inspect or change the software, choose your own infrastructure, or start with a local brain. Open-source gbrain gives you that flexibility.

Automated setup can make the first steps easier. Keeping a shared deployment available, updated, and configured for your team remains part of operating it.
